If you have a garden, you have everything in this world…. a world of your own, to plant, nurture and grow…. not only plants but your soul!
To create a landscape design based around a pool in the front yard, as it is an entertaining family area.
"We both like the idea of a timber deck around a pool for the look and feel - but are also interested in timber look tiles or composite decking materials around the wet pool for weathering.
We want an entertaining area around it - drinks on the deck, etc. kind of area, probably not a table for meals as we have one on our back deck. A fire pit might be an idea.
Lots of gardens with good screening from our driveway and the front yard - particularly as the council just pruned the trees on our nature strip, and now, we have no privacy!
It is hard to picture a garden in our current dust-dry front yard - it is now like a desert."
Low-maintenance native gardens were designed around the main pool area. A lounge overlooks the pool area, the firepit and a focal point from the house. Bluestone organic steppers enveloped with Dichondra Repens create a lush, calm, green environment leading from the driveway, past the pool and to the front timber floating steps, creating an inviting pathway. The large-sized bluestone steps make an attractive entry from the driveway to the front path.
Blurring the line between the path and lounge area creates a seamless look between the course, pool and outdoor lounge. The dichondra planting creates a soft edge to the paving. The firepit area is defined by a loose screening, kept in place with corten steel edging. Planting purposefully into the loose screening and to the outer edge of the firepit edge gives the space a casual, organic finish.
Bluestone paving with a square edge gives a modern finish to the pool.
Hardwood timber was used as the feature fencing and gates to provide much-needed privacy and is built to pool compliancy standards. Glass pool fencing keeps a spacious open feeling to the project.
Placing the pool in the front yard is the obvious choice, given the space and sun exposure. Council consent was required to ensure the entire area complied to pool safety standards.
