If you have a garden, you have everything in this world…. a world of your own, to plant, nurture and grow…. not only plants but your soul!
We were engaged to construct this landscape in Mornington. The property was purchased as an investment property that was to be developed and sold. The couple that was developing the property is experienced in creating high end living properties. Felicity presented us with a prepared landscape design and with a few suggestions from Anthony, we came up with a multi-functional easy living landscape.
The street appeal of this property was the striking front fence with an automatic gate. The hardwood timber fence was painted black in keeping with the modern look of the house. A decking pod front path with inbuilt lights leads visitors from the pedestrian gate to the front door. The vista from the causal living room at the centre of the house looks out over a stone water feature, designed maintenance-free with the use of grey tumbled rock.
The side pathway connects to the back-entertaining area that was paved in a luxurious travertine paver in French style pattern. The inbuilt seating stores cushions to add comfort to the hardwood seating and firewood for the firepit. The undercover deck area is an excellent idea for rainy days. Ficus Hilli flash was used as a green screen to add privacy to the boundary fencing. Hardy buffalo instant turf was planted through the front and side garden and to the nature strip. Garden lighting was used to enhance the feature tree and water feature that creates a picturesque view at night.
Creating a luxurious feeling but within a certain budget meant we had to pare back some of the original design. Adding more lawn and removing step paving kept the cost on budget. Using less mature plants also kept the budget on target.
Protecting assets such as newly built decks was a priority. Before starting excavation, the decks were covered with builder's plastic. This eliminated any wear marks and made cleaning up after we finished much more efficient. It also eliminated marking and discolouring of the timber. We also covered the new exposed aggregate driveway in a synthetic covering for the same reason.
